Whatever Whispers by Genna Black (ARC review)

This book landed in my inbox out of the blue. To be honest I forgot I signed up for an ARC review.

To my surprise, this book captivated me in a blink and I couldn’t put it down until it was finish. Thank the Universe that I did not start this book on an evening because who needs sleep, right?

Whatever Whispers has it all. It has romance, a secret society, violence and some plot twists that you never guessed are coming.

Summary:

On the shadowy campus of Cypress University, where ghosts of long-dead secrets linger, an unlikely romance falls into the lap of Professor Jack Hollis.

Quite literally.

Quinn Ivor, a brilliant and enigmatic forensic psychology student, is in need of a nanny job. A girl can only survive on instant ramen and expired Red Bull for so long.

She’s exactly what Jack is looking for now that he’s caring for his daughter Sienna full time.

As their professional and intellectual bond deepens, so does their attraction, defying the boundaries of propriety.

But their burgeoning relationship is haunted by more than just the whispers of their peers.

As Quinn and Jack navigate the treacherous waters of academia and their own desires (not to mention Sienna’s projectile baby vom), they must also confront the illusory presence that threatens to tear them apart. Will their love survive the dark forces conspiring against them, or will they become yet another chapter in the town’s haunted history?

Characters:

Quinn – main female character that struggles with her relationship with her parents. She is a student and works hard to support herself without her parents help. Little does she know that her father keeps a big secret that puts her in danger.

Jack – main male character of our story. He is the sexy professor that comes to our girl’s rescue while taking care of a little girl, Sienna. He falls in love with Quinn and protective mode activates.

They both need therapy but who are we to judge, right? They complete each other and the story has a happy ending.

Theme:

Secrets theme lays at the heart of the novel. Secrets we keep from others but also secrets that we keep from ourselves.

Whatever whispers is a beautiful way to express the voice of our subconscious that is always talking to us.

The little voice that can help us or sabotage us on a daily basis.

Besides secrets, we have a love story between a teacher and a student, a single dad and a nanny.

Mystery and plot twists that keeps the reader on the edge because when we have secrets to keep, life is a surprise for the ones around us.

Conclusion:

I recommend this book for any reader that is looking for an easy read. For anyone that is looking for a love story between a teacher and a student, single dad and nanny.

I rated this book 5 stars just because it surprised me with the plot twists, made me laugh, kept me there for the entire book without feeling bored and needing to take a break from it.

It has some spicy scenes, maybe a 2 out of 5 on a level of spice.

The book will be available for purchase on October 22nd on Amazon.com – not a sponsored post or link 🙂
